Sapone uses bold colors and prints in her artwork. Dunn Brothers is located at 501 Paul Bunyan Dr SE and is open 6 a.m. 7 p.m.\n\n \n\nNeilson Place continues the display entitled A Medley of Hues by Elaine Netland. Netland grew up in Littlefork\, MN. She owned a beauty shop in Bagley and one of her customers invited her to take painting classes. That was in the early 80's and since then Netland has painted every chance she can get. Her art pieces include the mediums of oil\, watercolor and acrylic. She belongs to Gallery North in Bemidji where she exhibits her art and teaches classes. At Neilson Place\, Netland's artwork will include original prints and greeting cards. Neilson Place is located on the Sanford WoodsEdge campus\, 1000 Anne Street NW and is open 8 a.m. 8 p.m.\n\n \n\nThe Bemidji Library wall will host a meet and greet from 2-5 pm on First Friday featuring artist Chuck Alberti. An artist who explores the hidden recesses of the mind with profound and disquieting insight\, Charles Alberti probes human psychology by means of brilliantly colored\, quasi surrealistic depictions of primal symbols done in a variety of media. Alberti was born and raised in Chicago. He earned a BFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago in painting\, drawing and art history and an M.Ed. and Ph.D. at Loyola University of Chicago. In 1988\, he began teaching at BSU and retired as Emeritus Professor of Professional Education and the Honors Program. Alberti's work has been featured in shows in New York\, Chicago\, California\, Connecticut\, Texas and Minnesota. The library is located at 509 America Ave NW.\n\nGallery North Stop by Gallery North's First Friday open house on September 7\, 2-6 pm and visit with Showcase Artist Alayna Greer. Greer has always enjoyed a variety of art forms. She loves to draw but was unable to use a paint brush because her hands shake. Instead\, she picked up a rattle can and has been spray painting since she was only 15! Featured artist will be John Winter\, who recently retired after 38 years working for Minnesota State Parks and an additional six years as Beltrami County's Park Director. This background experience contributes to his love for nature and recreation and has helped to develop the subjects he now paints\, which are primarily focused on nature\, history and recreation in Northern Minnesota. Gallery North is located at 310 4th St NW.\n\nHeadwaters Music & Arts features Darkness\, Light\, Darkness a series in charcoal by Katie Lynn Dixon of Nashwauk MN. Diagnosed with brain cancer this year\, Dixon draws strength and energy from the creative process. A reception will be 3-4:30 on Friday\, September 7. "Learning how to see gives us the chance to learn about ourselves\, others\, and the world we live in." Goliaszewski is currently the Gallery Director and Collections Manager for the School of Technology\, Art and Design at Bemidji State University. She holds a BFA from BSU and an MFA in painting from UND. Meet the artist during the opening reception on Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m.\, with artist lecture at 6 p.m. Contemporary landscape painter Thomas Paquette explores and paints scenes from the Mississippi River's entire length\, starting at its northern Minnesota source to its outflow at the Gulf of Mexico. Paquette was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Bemidji State University with a BFA in Painting in 1985. He earned his Master of Fine Art degree in Painting in 1988 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Paquette's landscape paintings are widely recognized and collected across the United States. They have been the subject of more than fifty solo exhibitions in prominent art galleries in Chicago\, Minneapolis\, Philadelphia\, New York City\, Washington DC and elsewhere.
