Every year Headwaters Music & Arts hosts one or more public performances as a part of Headwaters Fiddle Camp. This year we are pleased to announce a special evening show by Fiddle Camp instructors Brian Miller and Rose and John Vincent, Thursday, June 20th, 6 – 7:30 pm.

The concert, to be held at Headwaters (519 Minnesota Ave), will feature lumberjack stories, local song history, and great music. Admission is $5 and is free for Fiddle Camp participants. Tickets will be available at the door night of.

With strong harmonies and energetic rhythm, John and Rose Vincent perform throughout the Midwest at dances, special events, concerts and festivals as the John and Rose Band. John is experienced in bluegrass/country fiddle and guitar, and enjoys bringing the “soul”of music to all audiences. Rose received a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and currently performs as fiddler with bluegrass and country bands as well as classical venues. Married in 2011, the two own and operate Offbeats Violin & Guitar in Eau Claire, WI.

Brian Miller fell in love with Irish traditional music as a teenager in Bemidji (where he formed The Gaels) and followed the music to its source in Ireland and to its many strongholds in the US. He has played with and learned from many of the top performers and tradition bearers in North America’s Irish music scene. Brian provides guitar and bouzouki accompaniment for the acclaimed Chicago-based Irish traditional band Bua and for his duo The Lost Forty, in which he also sings.

Brian has devoted much of the past ten years to the research and revival of Irish-influenced folk songs once popular in the north woods of Minnesota and throughout the Great Lakes during the old time logging era of the 1800s. He was a 2014 winner of the Parsons Fund Award from the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress for his research on Minnesotan singers active during the logging era.
