Assistant or Associate Professor of Social-Industrial/ Organizational Psychology
BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY (BSU) invites qualified applicants to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Social-Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
The Psychology program is housed in the School of Social and Community Sciences, which includes the Social Work, Addictions, Sociology, and Justice Studies Programs. The Psychology program is dedicated to preparing students who will apply their psychological knowledge in an increasingly diverse world. Responsibilities of the Assistant/Associate Professor of Social-Industrial/Organizational Psychology include:
- The applicant would be expected to teach courses that would include, but are not limited to Social Psychology, I/O Psychology, Quantitative Methods and Statistics, Research Methods, Positive Psychology and the potential development of other courses as related to their area of expertise.
- Teach other core Psychology courses within the curriculum as needed.
- Contributing to a program of scholarship within the discipline, advising students, serving the University and community, and other associated faculty duties.
- Designing and delivering courses for on-campus, online, and hy-flex delivery, as needed.
- Advising and supporting students’ academic progress.
- Pursuing scholarly and/or creative activities.
- Contributing to a collegial and supportive environment that advances the goals of the department, including curriculum development, assessment, and other departmental governance activities.
- Contributing to interdisciplinary teaching and involvement in activities that support BSU’s Shared Fundamental Values.
- Earned doctorate in Psychology (Social and/or Industrial/Organizational) or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching across various delivery modalities (in-person, online, and potentially hy-flex).
- Skills/ability to design and deliver online courses with Desire To Learn (D2L) or similar software.
- Demonstrated experience working with and/or interest in working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds and using culturally responsive pedagogy and practice.
- A demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence, equitable opportunities, mutual understanding and respect, and the success of all students and employees, as reflected through teaching, service, scholarship, and collaboration with diverse learners and colleagues.
- Expertise in working with marginalized communities, Indigenous/American Indian communities, other racial and ethnic minorities, and/or people with disabilities.
- Expertise in quantitative methods
- Evidence of support for student research.
- Ability to engage in culturally responsive teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Experience or interest in programmatic accreditation or assessment of student learning.
- Interest and willingness to collaborate in developing a master’s-level program.
